- Mountain Grove Square with its historic bandstand is the hub of the downtown business district, as well as a source of pride to the Mountain Grove community. The bandstand was originally dedicated by Vice President Thomas Marshall in 1915. Through the efforts of a citizen-inspired restoration project in 1986-1987, the bandstand and surrounding park were restored to pristine condition. The bandstand was then rededicated on April 27, 1987 by then Vice President George Bush, with a crowd or more than 5,000 in attendance. Since that time thousands of people have had an enjoyable time in the park surrounding the gleaming white bandstand, whether at community events or by simply taking advantage of a sunny afternoon. The bandstand and historic square are on the National Register of Historic Places.
